The British Airways Executive Club is one of the most prominent loyalty programs out there, with some of the best redemption opportunities. BA is currently running a status match offer for its Executive Club Members wherein elite members of selected airline loyalty programs can have their statuses matched to the equivalent British Airways Executive Club Tier for a period of six months. The below table provides a summary of the selected airline statuses and comparable Executive Club Tiers.
| Alliance | Airline | Program | Executive Club Silver | Executive Club Gold |
| Sky Team | Delta | SkyMiles | Gold | Platinum |
| Air France/KLM | Flying Blue | Gold | Platinum | |
| Virgin Atlantic | Flying Club | Silver | Gold | |
| Star Alliance | SAS | EuroBonus | Gold | Diamond, Pandion |
| Air Canada | Aeroplan | 50K | 75K, Super Elite | |
| Lufthansa | Miles & More | Senator | Hon Circle | |
| United | Mileage Plus | Premier Gold | Premier Platinum, Premier 1K |
All you must do is the following:
- Apply online at this link by May 7th
- Wait for an acceptance email from British Airways Executive Club. The email should contain your upgraded digital membership card
Benefits of the Executive Club Silver and Gold Statuses
| Executive Club Silver | Executive Club Gold |
| Priority Boarding (Business Class Level) Priority Check In (Business Class Desks) Access to Business Class Lounges Tier Bonus on Collecting Avios Free Seat Selection at booking | Priority Boarding (First Class Level) Priority Check In (First Class Desks) Access to First Class Lounges Tier Bonus on Collecting Avios Free Seat Selection at booking |
The above benefits are in addition to the benefits already available for the Bronze and Blue Tiers. But that’s not just it. To extend your upgraded tier status to until the end of your next membership year, you need to book and travel on two qualifying transatlantic flights in business class (i.e., one round trip qualifying business class ticket) to extend your membership.
Why is this offer value for money?
Put simply, renewing an Executive Club Silver membership requires much more than a round trip qualifying business class ticket that’s transatlantic. A gold membership is far more difficult to renew with just one round trip business class ticket. Here’s a quick summary of the renewal requirements for the BA Executive Club
| Executive Club Silver | Executive Club Gold |
| 600 Tier Points on at least Four Eligible Flights | 1,500 Tier Points on at least Four Eligible Flights |
The one round trip ticket in business class that’s required to extend the upgraded tier stats to the end of your next membership year will likely not fetch the above-mentioned renewal criteria.

Whether or not you choose to renew this status is up to you. However, the status match offer will enable you to benefit from the upgraded Executive Club tier status benefits on your next transatlantic flight. Therefore, if you have an upcoming journey across the pond and you have an elite level status at one of the Sky Team or Star Alliance partners listed above, do check out the tier match program. I’d highly recommend BA service on your transatlantic journey and beyond!
